When I was first forced to away from my addiction never thought I could stay away for long. Yes I always wanted to get rid of the disastrous effects it had on my life but Quiting for the rest of my life seemed impossible. Several years into recovery, and after seeing so many addicts-who never thought they could recover from this disease, I still see that the initial reaction of almost every addict still remains the same. Our mission is to turn this seemingly impossible task into a well adjusted way of life and make a huge change in our life..

Preet Mohan Singh Kohli is the co-founder and trustee of the trust. He consistently works for the betterment of the society and to the larger interest of the society. He is very passionate about his services which he has to offer at any juncture. He plays a very important role by acting as the Managing Director of Jagrati Foundation Trust.

Jagrati Foundation

The Jagrati Foundation is a Non-Government Organization based in Dehradun, Uttrakhand, estabilished in 2014. We are am in-house rehabitation and treatment center and through our residential program we cater to treatment of people suffering from addiction- alcoholics,drug addicts, Substance abusers, chemical dependents- and in addiction also offer suitable treatment for people suffering from psychiiatric illnesses and behavioral disorders. In our all-rounded approach to this dreaded “disease” we not only focus on the recovery from the damage caused physically , mentally, emotionally, socially and spritually but highly emphasize on the transtion back to normal life. Our addiction treatment model is based on the internationally acclaimed 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous(AA) and Narcotics Anonymous(NA). In a addiction to that, we also have in house self-help group with yoga & meditation , further enhanced by motivational, inter-personnel and recreational therapies. And, most importantly, counseling-group as well as individual(one-to-one) – aimed at addressing the patients issue and problem area in group enviroment as well as in personal space.

Our Achivements:

The trust successfully completed and blodd donation camp, de-addiction programmed, Rehabilitation Programs and National Tobbaco control programmes at various places & levels and has been awarded appreciation for sucessful completionof the program in association with varios School, Goverment Departments, Other NGOs, Blood Banks an Hospitals.
Our team of skilled and experienced counselors have valuable training and experincedfrom institutions and international acclaim such as the National Institute of social defence(NISID) under the ministry of social Justics &Empowerment (Goverment of the India) and Society for promotionof youth & Masses(SPYM).

When a patient suffering from the disease of addiction gets admitted to our rehabilitation center, they are spiritually bankrupt which leads to physical, mental, and financial damages. and hence they lose their insight regarding their future perspectives. That is why we feel the importance of starting with some constructive means so that they not only recover from their disease of addiction but also help them earn a livelihood.

Self care

Although seemingly less attention-worthy, the residents are made to realize the paramount importance of self-dependence and hygiene. In active addiction these things take the lowest level in priorities, but their importance is restated and emphasized. The best way to do it is to make the alcoholic/addict accountable for his own environment, starting with himself. Each resident is assigned daily, routine, everyday tasks and is held accountable for the assigned task at hand, also ensuring respect for authority and developing a sense of responsibility and ownership.

Inventory/Reflection

This is an important tool in recovery where one pens down his feelings throughout the day. It helps to attain clarity and distil thoughts and also to find a way to deal with issue faced throughout the day. Education

A daily event where a resident is asked to verbalize the feelings that went through his head all day, in the presence of the whole group – from fears to how to overcome them; from worries to ways to dissipate tensions; from expectations to how to meet them, and so on. Counselors guide the residents to where their feelings come to equilibrium and to find a way to move forward, keeping in mind the new-found way of living a clean and sober, disease-free life.

Kailapira Dhoop Sticks is why under our rehabilitation program we are taking the next step forward with our skill development initiative where we are looking forward to providing a platform for our inhouse patients to reuse, reduce and recycle products made from solid waste management.

Kailapira Dhoop Sticks is our first step towards our skill development program in which Kailapira – The Mystic comes into existence, in which an organic brand of Kailapira dhoop sticks are made from temple flowers which are collected from various temples located in Dehradun. We’ve seen that tonnes and tonnes of this pious waste is dumped into water bodies making them lose their purity and sanctity.
